Exceptional Vintage Table by Jens Risom in Walnut and Framed Formica

Jens Risom was the first to envision the table tops in formica, but framed with walnut, providing a sleek modernist look that provided the functionality of formica, while making it even more attractive than either walnut or formica by itself.

This method of framing the table tops was later adopted by many manufacturers including Herman Miller. The formica used has a very flat surface and low sheen and has little in common with formica and laminate as we know it today. Produced around the late 1950s. Sculpted and floating, this rectangular coffee or cocktail table has appeal from any angle and is constructed of solid walnut with the tabletop appearing to be floating. It is in excellent condition with only subtle signs of use and will impress. A great vintage Mid-Century Modern table. Remnants of label to underside. Black American walnut and is exceptionally strong.
