Wayne Husted designed the concept of handblown art glass decanters in architectural scale after working at Blenko a few years. His first model is this one, the famous model number 588. He envisioned these being table top sculptures or for use as floor standing as well. An interesting note is that the color Mulberry – a colour similar to amethyst and purple was produced only in the first year 1958. The colour was used for cataloged items sparingly. In advertising the catalogs, the color Mulberry was selected as the ideal color for this decanter. The article is handblown and natural production flaws will be found. Otherwise excellent with no chips, cracks or abrasions. Can be used as a floor vase without the stopper. Whether for a client or for the astute collector, Wayne Husted’s Mulberry decanters will remain permanently in demand.
